Our first visit to Pioneer Kindy this week were steeped in controversy.
When the Captain returned to camp after the show he set about preparing fer the next days pillage. In straightening up the black chest he found a pair of stowaways.
In true Pirate style the Captain sought to identify the origins of the stowaways. He knew he had not put them in the chest hisself.
Being a Pirate in the 21st century he then resorted to social media, posting a photo of the controversial couple and innocently asking if anyone knew anything about them.
The resulting social media meltdown had far ranging side-effects.
Before the post regarding the cats Pirate Pete happily went about the supermarkets in town anonymously gathering supplies. Following the post – security now give him a guided tour of all the aisles and the supermarkets sophisticated CCTV is programmed to follow the Captains every movement while in the shop or within 50 metres of the front door.
Tuesday morning things weren’t so politically awry when Pirate Pete visited Mackay Kindergarten followed by Lady Gowrie Bucasia Kindergarten.
Bucasia Kindy 29th August 2017
Wednesday morning Pirate Pete visited Emmanuel Catholic Kindergarten Mount Pleasant. A jolly crew of Pirates he found there.
Thursday morning and we were back at Pioneer Kindergarten trying to talk our way out of the trouble we found ourself in after the stowaway saga and suggesting that someone in the room were wearing a beard smelling of mothballs.

Friday were a one show at Bucasia Kindergarten day fer Pirate Pete.
With 16 shows in Mackay Region completed the Captain set a course to the north and weighed anchor. Sailing towards the Cairns Region for an appointment with me young shipmates fer nine shows.
All in all it were a most memorable week and visit to Mackay this sixth week of Qld Tour 2017 with lots of love flowing towards Pirate Pete making him feel warm and fuzzy inside.
There has now been a weekend of revellery since then so now he’s back to his grumpy self.
Happy sailing Shipmates!

Tuesday morning we visited somewhere we hadn’t been before at Mackay North Kindy where we found the unlikliest of Pirates to shanghai.
Wednesday it were off to Mackay Cubbie House where we always have a wild fun time.
Its always fun watching the staff deciding who is going to be shanghaied this year. We were aiming fer two teachers who haven’t seen the show before but ended up catching out a Mum who happened to be sitting in the way
Thursday we returned to Mackay North and there were no Snow Whites to be found this day….the place were full of aarghhing pirates. Except fer this Dad who reminded Pirate Pete of a moth being drawn towards a flame…wondering what was going on
Friday saw the Captain on his first visit this trip to Mackay Kindergarten. We received word that the young Pirate who helped out by shanghaiing his Mum took great pleasure in relating the experience to his old Dad over dinner that night.
Outstanding feature fer this week has to be the sandflies around Pirate Petes campsite and when they are off duty the mosquitoes take over. They absolutely adore the Pirate and can’t get enough of him although he has had more than enough of them.
Next week the Captain stays fer another eight shows in Mackay before sailing further north.
Another week of fun in the furnace of Central Queensland has passed…..and this is winter! Of course the locals don’t have a clue what I’m talking about. Loads of them are walking round with cardigans and jumpers on meanwhile the Captain melts.
Seven shows this week. Two at Borilla Kindergarten two at Emerald and one each at Springsure, South Emerald and Dysart. Six of those shows was over two days…testing the Captains fitness….we survived.

Features of the week fer the Captain include –
- Arriving (late) at Emerald Preschool and being presented with a pile of headbands zipped tight in zipbag that we left a year ago on our last visit. Special thanks to Mrs Kay fer that….much appreciated.
- Passing Ms Jenny from Borilla in the local Coles a couple of hours after the first show at Borilla and not being recognised even though we’ve known each other for more than 17 years now.
- Coming through the gate at Borilla Kindergarten first thing Thursday morning and leaving the Captains longest fingernail jammed in the mechanism….ouch! Not a good start to three shows ‘on the trot’ that morning.
- Pirate Pete picked up three free feeds at Emerald Kindy this week. Tuesday there were no time to hang around fer the after show feed so Ms Kay and Ms Julie packed it all up in a tupperware box with lid and we nibbled our way down the 65km drive to Springsure fer the afternoon show. Wednesday were a celebration of Ms Julies 25th birthday so Pirate Pete invited hisself along fer the festivities, sang happy birthday, played a pirate version of ‘Whats the time Mr Wolf’ and pigged out again. Thursday the Captain hung around after the show and had another feed before his journey to night stop at Capella.
Pirate Pete’s favourite pic of the week is this one showing what fun our Dads n Grandad were on Tuesday 15th August as well as the closeness of the audience, the involvement from the audience and so many smiley faces.
The happiest face of all would be Dad in black T shirt centre right of pic. He was originally picked to be part of the crew but wriggled out with some suspect excuse like a broken shoulder or something. Didn’t fool Pirate Pete but all the ladies in the vicinity were taken in so he weren’t allowed to join in.
Next week the Captain sails further north to Mackay. He has 16 shows lined up in Mackay over next two weeks
Happy sailing Me Hearties!
